St Albans Quakers
News & Events Summer 2010
Recent past events:- A Bluebell Spring Walk was enjoyed by 7 Friends and dog on Sunday 11th April. Despite the delayed Spring, the sun shone and several blue bells were spoted. We enjoyed tea at the Randles afterwards.
On Sunday 9th May, in the evening, Freinds gathered at the Meeting House for a shared meal and then to see Rachel and Phillips's projected photo's listening to experiences from their trip to Cuba in April this year. The plan had been to be joined by a Cuban Friend (Kenya) who Rachel and Phillip Hughes met while visiting Cuba. Kenya's flight from Europe was unfortunatly delayed so she and Phillip were unable to attend. The presentation was well received and prompted some interesting discussion.
On Sunday 16th May, in the afternoon, Freda Colyer led a session on the 'Quaker Banana' based on the Woodbrooke on the Road study day held at Watford Meeting House on the 6th March and Freda's attendance at a Woodbrooke conference last autumn. The theme explored both the influences of Friends Christian roots and openness to new light. A shared lunch set between the two sessions was enjoyed by 17 Friends.
The current Friends Quarterly ‘The future of the Religious Society of Friends in Britain’ is being offered at half price (£2.50) for orders of 5 or more copies with a suggestion it be used for Autumn discussion groups. A copy is in the foyer.
