Rooms for hire

It is the wish of Harpenden Friends that their meeting house should be used as much as possible for the benefit of the local community. We welcome hirers whose activities do not conflict with recognised Quaker principles and values. We accept bookings for commercial purposes but give preference to non-profit organisations. We reserve the right to refuse any booking without explanation.

We have three rooms available for hire on Monday to Friday between 9.00 am and 10.30 pm and on Saturday between 9.00 am and 3.00 pm. There are tables and chairs available for all rooms and these can be set out to suit your requirements. All bookings may include the use of the kitchen facilities (includes a microwave, a cooker, water heater, utensils, crockery and cutlery) for a small additional charge. There is a small car park that will take about 9 cars and this is available on a first come basis. The building has full central heating, excellent toilets and disabled access throughout.

All doors in the Meeting House are wide enough for wheel chairs. There is a gently sloping ramp with a handrail from street level. The meeting house has a purpose built WC suitable for wheelchair users.

If you wish to discuss your requirements, please contact the resident caretaker, Katherine Buxton by email: kbxtn@hotmail.co.uk or telephone 01582 764593. We have a simple form you can fill out if you want to contact us about rooms for hire.

Check out the availability of our rooms on our room bookings pages. Note that just because a time is shown as free does not mean that you can definitely hire it, as we do take care to make sure that bookings are compatible (for example we would not allow a group to have a children’s party at the same time as a group doing meditation). You need to contact the caretaker (see above) or use the contact form to hire rooms.

A full list of the charges for each room is available. See our room hire Terms and Conditions.
