Luton & Leighton Area Meeting
- Introduction - Luton and
Leighton Area Meeting is a regional grouping of 10 Quaker
Meetings in and around West Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, and forms
part of Britain Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends.
- Enquiring about Quakerism?
Quakerism was founded in England in 1652 on the realisation that each and
every person could have direct experience of God. Quaker belief
is rooted in Christianity, but it is not a strict or exclusive
sect.
In a Quaker Meeting there are no hymns,
readings or set prayers.
As people arrive, they sit in silence, each free to reflect and pray in
their own way, but in the company of others.
Everyone is welcome to visit a Quaker meeting on
a Sunday morning. click here for more
